RECONSTITUTION – PREPARING THE PEPTIDE

Reconstitution is the process of converting the powdered peptide contained in a vial into a liquid solution suitable for injection. Peptides are reconstituted using BAC (bacteriostatic) water, a form of antibacterial water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol.

To perform the reconstitution, you will need:

  • The peptide vial
  • A vial of BAC water (or sterile water)
  • A syringe
  • Alcohol wipes

Step 1: Remove the plastic caps from both vials and clean the rubber stoppers with the alcohol wipes.

Step 2: Draw the bacteriostatic water from one vial and inject it into the other. You can use between 1 and 1.5 ml of bacteriostatic water; however, given the size of the peptide vials, using 2 ml per vial is recommended. Refer to the syringe markings for quantities (in ml [milliliters] or IU [International Units]).

  • 10 units = 0.1 ml – therefore, 2 ml = 200 units.

Next, simply insert the needle into the BAC vial and draw up the desired amount (1 ml or the equivalent, if possible). Ensure there are no air bubbles, then insert the needle into the peptide vial.
It is important to aim the needle tip toward the sides of the vial. Injecting the water directly onto the peptide could damage it.
Once all the water is in the vial, do not shake it; instead, swirl it gently to dissolve the powder. The peptide is ready for use once fully reconstituted.
Always store in the refrigerator.
